Jalapeno Turkey Burger

Jalapeno Turkey Burger with Cheddar

Turkey burgers are always a delicious alternative to red meat and are perfect to throw on the grill for summer meal. You can add any type of ingredients to get different flavors.

Today I made Cheddar Turkey Burgers With A Jalapeño Pesto. I usually add grilled jalapeños into the ground meat, but today I’m trying a pesto sauce for on top. It was really delicious and pretty spicy. The recipe below is for 2 burgers.

What You’ll Need:

  • 1 large fresh jalapeño, seeded and coarsely chopped
  • 4 tablespoons coarsely chopped cilantro
  • 1 large garlic cloves
  • 1 tablespoon fresh lime juice
  • 1 tablespoon water
  • 1/2 teaspoon ground cumin
  • Kosher salt
  • 1/2 pound of ground turkey (or any beef)
  • 1/4 cup of cheddar cheese
  • Freshly ground pepper
  • 2 buns
  • Olive oil, for brushing or Spray
  • 2 tablespoons of mayonnaise

What to do:

For the Sauce:

In a blender, combine the fresh jalapeños with 3 tablespoons of the cilantro, the garlic, lime juice, water, and a large pinch of salt and ground cumin. Puree sauce until smooth.

For the Burger:

In a medium bowl, mix the turkey with the cheese and the remaining cilantro and sprinkle of cumin.

Make 2 patties about 3/4 inch thick and season them with salt and pepper.

If your using a grill, bring your fire to medium hot and brush the grates with some olive oil. Grill the burgers for about 10 minutes, 5 minutes on each side. When they are done remove from the grill.

I cooked inside so, I baked the burgers in the oven for about 20 minutes at 375 degrees F. Then browned them in the pan stove top for 2-3 minutes on each side.

Spray or brush your buns with oil and toast them for a few minutes in the oven or grill.

Spread a thin layer of mayonnaise one side of the buns. Spoon some of the jalapeño sauce on the burgers and top with lettuce and serve.
